5. Maybe if I were to get on a Victory Liner bus for Baguio with friends in 2010 (because in 2008 and 2009 I was late and indirectly/directly became involved in/caused a scene/was ousted from original bus by an angry mob. Though maybe not really, I mightn't, if only to taunt Fate);
6. If there were another Universal Records sale (at the Universal Towers along Quezon Avenue, impossibly heavy with traffic just when one has a 10 a.m. [is one sure that's not 9:30?] hearing so it is better to take another route; an exception to the rule that the straightest way is the fastest way), at the last of which certain people were able to get 10 (more, if people were to count properly) CDs of bands previously unknown to them but, through sheer faith and uncontained enthusiasm for good new pop music/rock n' roll, have now been discovered to be excellent sources of inspiration and amazement and buzzy entertainment (and Windows Media Player confusion/snobbery), like Spoon
(Gimme Fiction, 2005), at P50.00 each. Though, no, this does not quite require early gettings up;
7. Practice, if I were a professional tennis player, or a musician with a cult following, or the need to simply sit down and write if I were a person working on her The Novel (I'd like to think I am actually one of these. Which one? Which one?);
8. A date w/ the Land Transportation Office sometime in late January (or, more likely, early February, based on recent lateness history), open at 9 a.m. in Megamall, though of course you have to be early to be first in line. But watch out for those who will try to answer the questionnaires more quickly than you so as to be first to submit them and thus purloin the story you were going to tell your friends about being the first issuee of a license for the day, but who will not notice that the forms should be filled up in triplicate (quadruplicate?) and have it returned to him, to his utter dismay, and your unutterable joy. Sucker. Still ended up number 2, though. The guy writes faaast;

My sister remarked that she finally understood why geeks liked Star Trek so much. I replied, "It's because of Spock isn't it?" She replied "Yes, he's so geeky he's cool". (It is a widely acknowledged fact that geeks and nerds love Star Trek...and er,Tolkien [gulps, moves on quickly...]. For more information on this sub specie, watch The Big Bang Theory. I myself maintain that there is a distinction between geek and nerd)
A light bulb lit up. I knew I wanted to pick on someone so I immediately called the person who apparently exemplified this sub specie, the person I had shamelessly stereotyped in the past, and was about to stereotype again (he had already watched Star Trek twice, called me to say he was disappointed that it didn't blow his mind away, but instead blew his entire being away, and called to say he was watching it yet again...obviously a Trekkie and the epitome of geek)and made an accusation, "You like Spock don't you?! Admit to me that you think Spock is The Geek Ambition".
(What was I thinking?? Truly, I had only wanted to victimize. It was some irresistible force that compelled me to pick up the phone...)
His response was negative. Star Trek is The Geek Fantasy. Chuck or maybe The Librarian was The Geek Ambition, I was informed (He happily conceded a point). For whatever reason, the conversion centered around a detailed analysis of different geek archetypes in these movies. I commented, "But geeks are incessant talkers. Spock isn't like that". He paused, then said tentatively, with some level of self awareness, "I wouldn't say incessant..." (Nerd scores again). Feeling magnanimous,I corrected myself "I mean, geeks like to talk". He readily agreed.
I was smug. I had clearly made a point: you geek, me not geek. It made me happy. But Tolkien somehow got dragged into it. I was appalled, and then it happened. Nerd rage took over:
"You CANNOT say that Star Trek is the Fellowship in space!And NO you cannot equate Frodo with Spock. Is nothing sacred???"
There, I lost. I was accused of being a Tolkien purist to boot.
But really, me? nerd? How can I when I wasn't the classmate who called up to tell me the entire history of Middle Earth...;p
Anyway, so that's what happens when you bait a geek. I'll be better off playing rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. (as If I could ever remember the rules: scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disapproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, rock crushes scissors?)
I have some other stuff in the pipeline (hyuk), but this was begging to be posted. First, Cesc came back from injury all inked up.
Then, the big idea of a new hair(non)style. Frost-tipped fauxhawk? Seriously?
What next, Cesc? A chrome coated car? A chartreuse leather vest? A busty WAG?
I was much happier when he was just goofing off with Mickey's Merlin Hat.
Annsley mentioned something about a fan's bounden duty to just let things slide and to love inspite of. Bueno. In truth, the loving inspite of is wholly mine. Miko's suggestion (slap him to get him to see sense) held appeal for a nanosec, but I really wouldn't be able to live with myself if I so much as I entertained the thought of harming a frost-tipped hair on his head. So I sorted myself out. It is true. Omnia vincit amor yaddayadda. So. There you go.
