Slow Down

Hey, Jell-O Sea

I had previously embarked on a mission to analyze what it meant when things did not go one's way. I did not complete it; it remains unfinished.

Did Kim Clijsters have to be so together today? Did she really have to hit that ace right after Vera passed her for a break point at 3-1 in the second? Did she absolutely have to win a third US Open?

Because, with her 2 Grand Slams, one would think it was not that necessary to prove she had mental fortitude. I concede that. Oh, but here I go again conceding stuff that are not for me to concede.

In any case, Kim was nicest when, in her speech, she made sure to tell Vera to "keep it going", and you know that she meant it (having herself been in 4 Grand Slam finals before finally winning).

Vera, on the other hand, acknowledged that there is a need to "analyze", and maybe to "stop playing doubles", and, most importantly, to "look forward." Vera, always confident and always self-believing pre-finals;* always trying to take charge of points and always producing pretty shots; and, recently, always on the verge of greatness but always just a bit needing some kind of emotion checker--thus just has to "keep it going" and push herself a little more.

Vera Zvonoreva
And then they can replace Plate with Water Vessel.

And if things still don't work out?

"(W)hen I finish my career, maybe I will look back and I will remember some great moments. But at the moment, I will try to look forward."

Jesus, self. Pay attention.

Still, maybe, in alternative to looking back and remembering great moments, well you should--

Look for us, we were the casualties
forever paying the price for a life less boring.
Look for us, we were the whipping children, but no more.
Look for us ‘cause when the tables turn,
You’ll be saying a prayer to the great unwanted.
Singing a hymn to the great unwanted.
We will not be ignored.
We won’t take that no more.

-- The Great Unwanted, Lucky Soul

And so, when faced with something that really one cannot do anything about, one should--simply--move on. Focus on the good stuff. And make The World fall to its knees.

I am reminded of a certain time, a certain sound...

"The past is gone but something might be found to take its place."
-- Hey Jealousy, Gin Blossoms**

* Nevermind the commentating.
**And they are coming to Manila, by the way. (Goes to check if tickets are already on sale...they are not)

"...when faced with something that really one cannot do anything about, one should--simply--move on. Focus on the good stuff. And make The World fall on its knees." -- World domination. That has always been The Plan, right? :-D

G: Yes. Is it imperative to stop, though? YES. (Again--Jesus, self!!)

AM: As is said--must keep eye on the prize. Or, rather, the ball.

How's tricks?? Hah. (G, that was borrowed from London; just for you) We shall claim our birthright (guess what?) and make happy and good.

A, if left up to us, the world would of (oops) fallen to its knees ages ago. Not to worry, it will happen yet.

Plus, Vietnamese cinema is ripe for redemption.

(Oh, and I noticed the emoticons.)

We should also replace the Yahoo! bloggers/reporters. The one who does tennis just cannot be trusted to make a well-informed, analytical or fair report; his blog posts are shallow and plainly yellow journalism. We should Yahoo! because we all of us use it.

Let's spend some of our time in Japan to plan The Plan (when we're not hobnobbing with the cool youths).

What about the emoticons?

I don't know much about Yahoo sport writing. But I do know that ESPN's football (er...soccer) writers are embarrassing. Eeek.

What else needs saving, A? refresh my memory, please.

AM, world domination, okay? Not dominatrixing. Haha. Kidding. I am kidding.

1. Philippine television
2. Philippine cinema
3. Philippine music scene
4. Vietnamese cinema
5. Restaurant menus
6. Yahoo! and ESPN reporting
7.

Is that it? I thought we had an awful long list. We'd be done with these quickly and then what would we do?? Haha.

An excellent read and some important issues made. I truly do still think about the subject of your blog post ('Hey, Jell-O Sea') in some ways misleading though. The fact that merely a modest percentage of people will likely be affected to my mind doesn't cause the measures used here.

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don't have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn't write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
